It's hard to say which service has the "better selection" because it all depends on what you are looking for. Joost has the largest selection of mainstream shows with CBS and Viacom (MTV, BET, and others) onboard. You can find CSI and other familiar favorites usually within a week of when they air. I think Miro has the largest overall selection with 4181 channels in the guide when I wrote this. Don't come looking for too much mainstream content though. It's mostly podcasts and other indie stuff, but if you're willing to spend the time to sift through all the content, you'll find some stuff you like. Try Scam School. It didn't take all that long for me to download HD clips as long as I wasn't trying to download a bunch at the same time. It was kind of annoying to have to wait to download the clips sometimes because I want to be entertained immediately when I sit down to watch TV. Thankfully Miro built in auto download features.
